African masks – studio photography on a white background
In this album, I present studio photographs of African masks and a figurine, photographed on a white background. I focus on the objects’ forms and the details that distinguish them. The uniform surroundings allow a closer look at their outlines, proportions and surfaces without distracting elements in the background.
When photographing this series, I tried to bring out the character of each mask by showing its shape clearly. I am interested in how light and shadow emphasise an object’s three-dimensional structure and change the perception of its details. This is my photographic view of these objects, focused on their appearance and the composition of the frame.
I took the photographs with a Canon EOS 6D. You can find the settings for individual images in the EXIF data under the “More Info” button.
