Using the Polar Coordinates filter in Photoshop
Photographic distortions – tiny planets and abstractions in Photoshop
In this album, I show the results of transforming photographs with the “Polar Coordinates” filter in Photoshop. An ordinary frame becomes the starting point for a circular composition. One example is a yellow field surrounded by blue sky that resembles a tiny planet after editing.
I am interested in changing the way we look at a familiar subject. Lines and surfaces visible in the photograph are arranged around the centre of the image, creating new proportions and rhythms. Colour and texture remain connected to the original photograph, but its space takes on a completely different form.
This is a series of experiments with digital photo editing and photographic abstraction. The gallery presents finished results rather than instructions for using the filter.
