Landscape photography
Bodrum – photographs of the marina, castle and coastal landscapes of Turkey
In this gallery, I show Bodrum through its harbour, historic architecture and views from the surrounding hills. White houses, blue water and dry, rocky slopes create a distinctive combination of colours. Alongside a panorama of the bay are photographs of yachts and wooden boats, the castle above the harbour and the coast at Kadikale.
In the marina, the rhythm of masts caught my attention. In one photograph, the orange sun appears between them, turning the harbour view into a composition of dark lines and warm light. Other frames show boats against buildings and mountains. Wider views reveal the coastline, city layout and gentle curve of the bay.
The later part of the album leads towards old windmills, stone walls and an ancient theatre. Repeating rows of seats and the exposed structure of a windmill’s sails introduce clear geometry into the photographs. I am interested both in detail and in the relationship between buildings and the surrounding landscape. I took the photographs with a Canon EOS 6D, using focal lengths from 24 to 105 mm. This allowed me to combine wide views with closer photographs of the harbour and architecture. You can find the settings for individual frames under the “More Info” button.
