Clear water – photographs of sea reflections, waves and a stony seabed
Clear water is a subject in its own right in this gallery. Instead of broad coastal panoramas, I show fragments of the sea: a turquoise surface, small waves, submerged stones and bright streaks of sunlight. The photographs include views from the Croatian coast, including Brela. This is a view of the coastal landscape through its smallest details.
I am most interested in the changing patterns of light. On the shallow, stony seabed, they form a delicate mesh, bands and irregular lines. Pale pebbles show through the water, while darker rocks emphasise its turquoise shades. A small striped fish appears in one frame. Other photographs are filled almost entirely with waves and reflections, so that an ordinary stretch of shore begins to resemble an abstract composition.
Here I combine close-ups of stones with views in which bright coastal water gives way to deeper blue. Changing the frame draws attention to colour, clarity or the rhythm of small waves. It is this variety that I enjoy in water photography: the same subject produces completely different images depending on light and surface movement. The album invites you to look closely at details that are easy to miss during a seaside walk.
