Miniature Park – photographs of architectural models and details
In this gallery I show Miniature Park as a world of architecture viewed on a smaller scale. Building models let us examine proportions, window arrangements and roof shapes from a perspective unavailable with their full-size counterparts. The subjects include a red-and-white lighthouse beside the water and a brick gate with two tall towers. Greenery, paths and the surroundings of the display remind us of the actual size of these structures.
For me, photographing miniatures is a way of playing with viewpoint. A frame focused on a façade emphasises the rhythm of windows and small model elements, while a wider view shows the building as part of the park arrangement. The lighthouse photograph also includes small boats that complete the waterside scene. Juxtaposing the models with natural light and vegetation creates an interesting contrast between reproduced architecture and its surroundings.
I took the series with a Canon EOS 6D, using focal lengths from 17 to 40 mm, an aperture of f/8 and ISO 200. Vertical shots emphasise the height of towers, while horizontal ones leave more space for the surroundings and the relationships between elements. I present nineteen photographs in this album, from individual buildings to broader compositions. The settings for individual photographs can be checked under the “More Info” button.
