Verona – photographs of monuments, bridges and panoramas along the Adige
In this album I show Verona from street level and from viewpoints overlooking a bend in the Adige and the city’s red roofs. The gallery includes the Arena di Verona, the courtyard with Juliet’s balcony, bridges and historic squares. Panoramas of riverside buildings alternate with photographs of houses, gateways, towers and people walking through the centre.
When photographing, I paid attention to the layout of the city around the river. Bridge arches, the line of the waterfront and colourful façades guide the eye through successive planes. In tighter frames I looked for wall paintings, shutters, arcades and other details that are easy to miss when viewing a broad panorama. Clouds above the city provide a subdued backdrop for the warm shades of brick and plaster.
I took the photographs with a Canon EOS R6 Mark II, combining wide architectural views with closer shots of the buildings. You will find the photo settings in the EXIF data. This is my record of a walk through Verona, from recognisable monuments to urban scenes and views along the Adige.
