Living fountain in Šibenik – photographs of turtles, water and mossy rocks
A fountain with turtles in Šibenik became the subject of this small series of photographs from Croatia. Turtles rest on rocky ledges covered in green moss, streams of water flow between them, and orange fish can be seen in the pool at the base. These small scenes were what caught my attention.
In the album, I combine wide views of the fountain with closer photographs of its inhabitants. Some frames show the whole rocky formation and surrounding trees; others show several turtles on a single ledge. Intense green moss, the texture of rocks and splashing water form a backdrop to the animals’ calm silhouettes.
I took the photographs with a Canon EOS 6D, using focal lengths from 35 to 105 mm. Changing the framing allowed me to show both the surroundings and the details of this place. You can find the settings for individual photographs under the “More Info” button.
