Soap bubbles – macro photography on a black background
In this album, I show soap bubbles photographed close up against a black background. Their surfaces reveal colourful streaks, reflections and patterns that give each image a different character. The dark surroundings emphasise the outlines of the bubbles and focus attention on the colours and tiny details of their surfaces.
In this series, I am interested in the combination of a simple spherical form with the changing patterns visible on it. Macro photography offers a closer look at these details and turns the bubble into the subject of an abstract composition. Instead of elaborate staging, I use the contrast between bright reflections and the black background.
I took the photographs with a Canon EOS 6D; you can find the settings for individual frames under the “More Info” button. Bubble photographs can be used as backgrounds, wallpapers or elements of graphic design projects. Selected images are available in the linked stock collection.
