Urban and architectural photography
Warsaw from above – the city panorama from the Palace of Culture and Science
I took the Warsaw photographs in this album from the viewing terrace of the Palace of Culture and Science. This perspective reveals the street layout, dense city-centre buildings and skyscrapers rising above the urban blocks. The gallery includes the distinctive form of Złota 44 and the National Stadium visible in the distance.
When photographing the capital’s panorama, I combined wide views with closer images of selected buildings. I was interested in the divisions of glass façades, the directions of streets and differences in building heights. Clouds and changing light give each frame a different character, although they all show the city from the same vantage point.
I used a Canon EOS 6D, a wide-angle lens and a polarising filter, and also photographed selected parts of the panorama at a longer focal length. Detailed settings are available in the EXIF data beside the photographs. This is my photographic record of Warsaw seen from above, as well as a collection of images for people looking for urban subjects for publications and projects.
