Flowers – photographs of garden plants, petals and small details
The flower photographs in this gallery show the garden up close: purple irises and lavender, full peony blooms, pink hydrangeas and colourful flower beds. I am interested both in individual petals and the shapes of flower heads, and in how plants are arranged alongside one another. Green leaves form a backdrop to reds, yellows and purples, while light reveals subtle differences in texture.
The photographs include tight close-ups and wider views of the garden surroundings. Flowers of a climbing plant hang above a brick wall, small purple clumps stand out against a lawn, and individual stems rise above a flower bed. Several photographs show bumblebees visiting flowers. Their presence brings movement to quiet compositions and draws attention to a small fragment of garden life.
When photographing plants, I look for a balance between clear detail and a soft background. The album allows you to compare images with different depths of field — from a single flower isolated against greenery to larger groups of plants. It is a collection of my observations of colour, light and natural forms, subjects I enjoy returning to with my camera. For photographs with recorded EXIF data, the “More Info” button lets you check the camera settings and explore the technical side of these images.
